Jeiel (Jay-El), born Jeiel Ian Usi Veloria, is a singer-songwriter based in Auckland, New Zealand. Originally from Manila, Philippines, he moved to Wellington in 2011 and began his musical journey performing at church and local events.
Jeiel first emerged under the name Jeivenchy, releasing bold pop and dance tracks inspired by icons like Lady Gaga and Madonna. As Jeivenchy, he released two albums — Seenzoned (2020) and Fatal Attraction (2022) — and collaborated with artists such as Missrosevalentina (formerly known as Hybrid Rose).
In 2023, Jeiel embraced a more R&B-inspired sound and began releasing music under his birth name. In March 2025, he returned to his pop roots with the empowering single Thru This, accompanied by a cyberpunk-inspired music video directed by Luke Penney, featuring visual nods to Severance and The Matrix. The video premiered on JuiceTV.
His latest EP, Rabbit Hole, released on 24 May 2025, explores themes of love, heartbreak, and personal growth. Spanning multiple genres, the project highlights Jeiel’s vocal range, songwriting depth, and artistic versatility. The EP was launched with Into The Rabbit Hole, an immersive, Matrix-inspired event featuring DJ sets from RNGsus, Npeezy, and Emmxuvel, alongside performances by Cara Wei and a theatrical headline set by Jeiel. Blending fashion, music, and visual storytelling, the night embodied the EP’s bold and cinematic vision.
Blending music, fashion, and visual art, Jeiel draws inspiration from boundary-pushing artists like Lady Gaga. He collaborates with local creatives to craft immersive visuals that elevate each release. Jeiel is currently working on a new album, set for release in 2026, continuing to push the boundaries of pop music. With a dynamic voice and fearless artistic vision, Jeiel continues to carve out a sound and style uniquely his own.
